🚶 Abacus and the Memory Journey Method for Long Lists

✨ Take a mental walk to remember anything
Child walking mental journey

Your daily walk becomes a memory tool

Does your child need to remember a long list — like 20 spelling words or historical events in order?

The Memory Journey Method (also called the Method of Loci) uses a familiar walk to store and recall information. Abacus trains the visualisation to make it work.

Here’s the promise: You’ll learn how to turn any walk into a memory palace.

⚡ Quick answer: Memory Journey Method: choose a familiar walk (e.g., around your home or to school). Identify 10-20 specific spots (front door, sofa, table, kitchen sink…). Place a vivid image of each item you want to remember at each spot. To recall, mentally walk through the journey and “see” the images. Abacus mental imagery makes the images vivid. Practice with a 5-stop journey first. Works for speeches, exam answers, and shopping lists.

🧩 How the Memory Journey Works

The brain is excellent at remembering spatial locations. The Memory Journey method uses this strength: you place mental images of what you want to remember along a familiar route.

Each spot holds one image

🎯 Building Your Memory Journey

Step 1: Choose a familiar route (your home, school, park). Step 2: Identify 10 specific spots in order (doorknob, coat rack, dining table, fridge…). Step 3: For each item you want to remember, create a vivid, crazy image and place it at a spot. Step 4: To recall, mentally walk the route. Start with 5 spots. Use abacus visualisation to make images detailed.

💡 A Parent’s Example

“My daughter used her walk to school to remember history dates. At the gate: image of 1492 (Columbus). At the corner shop: 1776 (American flag). She never mixed up dates again.”

You might wonder, “Can I reuse the same journey?” Yes — but make new images each time. The journey stays the same; the images change.
