Today I’m sharing the Top 10 Easiest & Most Powerful Vedic Maths Techniques that every beginner (kids 7+ and adults too!) should learn first.

These tricks will make you multiply, add, subtract, and square faster than a calculator – I promise! 🧮⚡

Let’s jump in! 🚀

1. Multiplication Just Below 100 – “Nikhilam Sutra” 😍

Best for: 98 × 97, 89 × 96, etc.

Method (super easy): Step 1: See how much below 100 both numbers are 98 is -2, 97 is -3

Step 2: Cross subtract → 98 – 3 = 95 (or 97 – 2 = 95)

Step 3: Multiply the deficiencies → (-2) × (-3) = +6

Answer: 9506 ✅

Try these now: 95 × 94 = ? 88 × 95 = ? (Answers at the end 😜)

2. Multiplication Above 100 – “Urdhva Tiryagbhyam” (Vertically & Crosswise) 🔥

Example: 108 × 109

Step 1: Write vertically 108 × 109

Step 2: 1×1 = 1 (1×9 + 0×1 + 8×0×0 carry) wait – easier way!

Just remember pattern: 108 × 109 = (100+8)(100+9) = 100×100 + 100×(8+9) + 8×9 = 10000 + 1700 + 72 = 11772 → put in middle → 11,772

3. Multiply Any Number by 11 in 2 Seconds ⚡

Rule: Add neighbouring digits and put in middle

Example: 34 × 11 3 + 4 = 7 → 374 ✅

52 × 11 → 5_(5+2)_2 → 572

96 × 11 → 9_(9+6)_1 → carry 1 → 1056 ✅

Even works for big numbers: 7842 × 11 = 86262 😱

4. Squaring Numbers Ending with 5 (Fastest Trick Ever!) 🎯

25², 35², 115²… all in 3 seconds!

Rule: Take the front part, multiply by (front+1), then add 25 at end

35² → 3 × 4 = 12 → 1225 ✅ 85² → 8 × 9 = 72 → 7225 115² → 11 × 12 = 132 → 13225

Try 205² = ? (Answer: 42025)

5. Left to Right Addition (No More Accurate, Less Mistakes) ➡️

Normal method: right to left → easy to forget carry

Vedic way: LEFT to RIGHT!

Example: 4567 + 7893 Start from thousands: 4 + 7 = 11 → write 1, carry 1 (1+5) + 8 = 13 → write 3, carry 1 (1+6) + 9 = 16 → write 6, carry 1 7 + 3 + 1 = 11 → write 11

Answer: 12,460 ✅

6. Instant Subtraction from 1000, 10000, etc.

9876 from 10000 → just subtract from 9,9,9,9 and last digit from 10

10000 – 9876 = 0124 → 124 ✅ 1000 – 678 = 322 10000 – 4567 = 5433

7. Multiplication by 9, 99, 999 (So Beautiful!) ❤️

Rule for 9: One less than number → subtract 9 – 1 = 8 Then number that adds to 9 → 1 So 58 × 9 → 57 | 2 → 522

78 × 99 = 78 – 1 | number that makes 100 → 7722 456 × 999 = 456 – 1 | 1000 – 456 = 455544

8. Digital Root Method – Check Answers Instantly ✅

Want to know if your calculation is correct?

Add digits again and again until single digit.

Example: You calculated 456 × 789 = 359784 Digital root: 3+5+9+7+8+4 = 36 → 9 Now 456 → 6, 789 → 6, 6×6=36 → 9 Matches → Answer correct!

9. Criss-Cross Method for 2-Digit Multiplication (Fun & Fast!)

Example: 23 × 46

2 3 × 4 6 ————— Step 1: 3×6 = 18 → write 8, carry 1 Step 2: (2×6 + 3×4) + carry = 12 + 12 + 1 = 25 → write 5, carry 2 Step 3: 2×4 + carry = 8 + 2 = 10 → write 10

Answer: 1058 ✅

10. Base Method for Numbers Near 50, 200, 500

Example: 48 × 52 (both near 50)

48 = 50 – 2 52 = 50 + 2

Answer = 50 × (48 + 52)/something wait – simple: 50 × 100 = 5000 (because total deviation zero) Then (–2) × (+2) = –4 So 5000 – 4 = 2496 ✅
